Technological and Applied Studies (TAS) at Hastings Secondary College encompasses a range of technologies including engineering, food, textiles, timber and metal.
Through the use of technologies, students gain an appreciation of tools, equipment, materials and procedures and they develop a wide range of practical skills.
Students learn how to manage their time and develop self-discipline.
The various courses also require that students reflect on the work they are doing. This helps them with self-evaluation. All these skills are transferable to other study and future careers.
Hastings Secondary College has two newly built Trades Training Centres, one on each campus, which open up many valuable opportunities for all students. These multi-million dollar facilities are state-of-the-art and give students wishing to enter the workforce as trainees and apprentices, a competitive edge.
