Hastings Secondary College supports the Department of Education framework and policies that promote effective environmental education programs at our campuses.
Each campus's environmental plan is meaningful to their site and evaluated at regular intervals.
The environmental management plan is part of the annual school plan and is used as a tool for planning, programming, implementing and assessing. The information is used to assist teachers to deliver environmental education programs.
Each campus reviews the plan annually with the view of integrating environmental education across the curriculum using examples of teaching and learning strategies and partnering with organisations to support environmental education.
The plan also covers the management of the school grounds; an annual audit takes place which identifies strategies for managing the school grounds, ideas on how to link school ground projects to curriculum along with the partnership with community and parents and citizens groups for grounds projects.
Excursions are undertaken by the campuses to support environmental education and special days and events celebrated including National Recycling Week, Clean up Australia, Harmony Day, World Water Day, Earth Hour and National Tree Day.
