Educating College students about the conservation of wildlife and biodiversity

10 Jul 2017
Year 9 and 10 LEAP classes engaged in the diversity of life around them with an excellent opportunity to get students out of the classroom raising awareness of endangered species.

Students connected with local business Billabong Zoo at Port Macquarie and talked about environmental sustainability,  engaging them in biodiversity and conservation of wildlife in our local environments.

Students learned that biodiversity is not just about saving endangered species. It is very much about the bigger picture. It is about conserving entire habitats and ecosystems; about researching and understanding the complexity of ecological relationships; about planning and management for ecologically sustainable use of our resources; and importantly, about individual and community responsibility.

Thank you Billabong Zoo, Mrs Frater and Mrs Bawden for embedding real life experiences into our students learning.
