Excellence in Sport awarded at the highest level | Hastings Secondary College

20 Jun 2017

Congratulations to Ashlyn Dures of Port Macquarie Campus for receiving a 2017 Pierre De Coubertin Award in Sydney last week. Only one student per school around the nation were able to be nominated by teachers for their outstanding contribution to PDHPE and sporting programs, and only a selected few receive this award.

Ashlyn’s continual swimming success at state level each year, as well as her consistent achievements and contributions to a range of sports, is why Ashlyn was nominated by Hastings Secondary College Head Teacher Mr Huens.

The Australian Olympian Committee (AOC) host these awards each year with recipients spending a day meeting Olympic heroes. Home grown Shelley Watts was a proud ambassador for this program and was elated to see a star in the making from her home region.
