Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses contribute to the broad education of students. They can engage and challenge students to maximise their individual talents and capabilities for further education and training and lifelong learning.

Students entering Years 11 and 12 at Hastings Secondary College are able and are encouraged to undertake vocational education and training (VET) courses with the opportunity to learn skills applied in the classroom to the workplace and gain nationally recognised qualifications as part of and in addition to their Higher School Certificate.

Senior college courses include Construction, Entertainment, Hospitality - Kitchen Operations and Food and Beverage Service (delivered in our Trade Training Centre facilities), Metal and Engineering, Retail Services and Sports Coaching. Business Services and Primary Industries are available through a shared curriculum. School Based Traineeships and Apprenticeships (SBATs) are available for many VET courses.

Students have the option of studying VET courses at school or through TAFE NSW or other training providers.

TAFE delivered courses include Automotive, Electrotechnology, Financial Services, Human Services – Allied Health/Aged Care, Information and Digital Technology, Tourism and Events, Animal Studies, Beauty, Early Childhood Education and Care, Hairdressing, Maritime Operations and Screen and Media.

Work Studies for Years 11 and 12 and Work Education in Year 10 endeavour to ready students for the workforce.
